Retail Study Tour Program

Client:

    NARTA is the largest retail buying group for consumer electronics and white goods in Australia and New Zealand

Challenge:

NARTA was holding their annual meeting in Chicago and wanted their members to be able to not only see some stores in the U.S. but also get a deeper appreciation of what goes on behind the scenes and the strategies and tactics that drive these stores to be successful. They did not want to just look and see, they wanted to look and understand.

Solution:

Dionco created a store tour that went beyond the ordinary. We arranged with the head offices of five major retailers to go behind the scene in each store and arranged tours by store managers who shared the real story of each stores' success.

Overview:

  • Prepared handouts for each person with relevant business data about the stores visited
  • Provided store analysis sheets
  • Presented a pre-tour workshop to tell all retailers what to look for at each store
  • Led an after tour debriefing to get the maximum learning for each participant
  • Prepared complete turn by turn maps for the bus drivers for tour routes

Collateral Material:

A 35-page booklet for each retailer detailing the store visited, the performance history for that store, relevant information about the store and what makes them successful. The booklet also included all the tour routes.
